The Office for Students has reduced the C1.1 high cost subject funding rate from £289.50 per full time equivalent student to zero for 2026 to 2027.
The C1.1 allocation was not nursing only. Its £41.6 million budget covered nursing alongside computing, geographical systems and archaeology.
A separate supplement for nursing, midwifery and allied health remains at £32.1 million in cash terms. That funding stream is distinct from the C1.1 rate that has been removed.
Providers will need to read the decision alongside their own course costs and allocations. The published change does not make a single claim about the financial position of every nursing course.
